The reason why it is difficult to start the generator set at low temperature

In winter, many products have to face the problem of difficulty in starting at low temperatures, and generator sets are no exception. This kind of mechanical equipment is widely used in industrial and agricultural production, science and technology, and daily life. Its use status will have an important impact on people's normal life and economic development, so we must understand the reasons for the difficulty in starting at low temperatures.

          1. Increased friction resistance: The rotational resistance torque and starting speed of the generator set crankshaft are mainly affected by oil viscosity under low temperature conditions. As the outside temperature decreases, the viscosity of the engine oil increases or even condenses, the fluidity is poor, and the resistance between the friction pairs increases, thereby increasing the rotational resistance torque of the crankshaft and reducing its starting speed.

          2. Increased starting power: The higher the oil viscosity grade selected by the generator set, the greater the power required for starting. For example, at a temperature of -23.3℃, ??it only needs 3.7KW of starting power when using SAE10W engine oil, 7.4KW when using SAE20W engine oil, and 11.8KW when using SAE30W engine oil.

          3. The viscosity and density of diesel increase: As the outside temperature decreases, the viscosity and density of diesel increase, and the surface tension increases.

When the generator set starts at low temperature, it needs a large starting power. However, the low temperature reduces the output power of the battery, and it is unable to drive the starter to drive the generator set to rotate or cannot reach a lower starting speed, which will make it difficult to ignite and operate.
